After our morning at Alcatraz we headed to the other end of town to see Golden Gate Park. We had read that there was some fun shopping in that district. We also read that most of the "hippies" lived in that area. That was no joke. By the time we got on the bus that went to the park we were in completely different company than we had been so far in San Francisco. As far as I'm concerned, I'm kind of glad we got a late start towards the park and we didn't end up with a lot of time to shop. I would much rather shop in Union Square (where we ended up later that night) than in that crazy part of town. There were a couple cool looking consignment/antique stores that would have been fun to look through though.
While at lunch we got on the topic of celebrity crushes and at one point of our ride towards the park Colby and I gave Tara a good chuckle. We were totally engrossed in narrowing down our "Top 5." Certain details of this conversation are not to be shared... I'm sure they'd be taken out of context :)
Here we are at Golden Gate Park. The park was really cool and had a lot of neat destinations. If we lived in San Fran, I'm sure we'd spend a lot of time there. It was that cool. And we only saw a tiny portion of it.
We really only had time to see one sight and we chose the California Academy of Sciences. It was pretty cool. They had some great exhibits of different parts of the world. We were sad to have missed the last show at the Planetarium though. We took a bunch of pictures to show the kids... they would have loved it. Probably as much as we did. I think the four of us are a bunch of big kids.
Look at this huge moose.
They had a cool pendulum clock. I had never seen one before.
Their aquarium was really cool.
They also had a neat rain forest exhibit.
And, what the heck?! An albino alligator. It was freaking me out!!!
It is definite, we will bring our kids back here for sure.
